Cosmos Science City: What are the jobs of the future?

Join our panel of researchers in a conversation from our newsroom headquarters in The Science Exchange, Adelaide, as they discuss the evolving relationship between technology and employment, and what that might mean for leaders, employees and organisations.

Our panellists

Dr Andreas Cebulla is Associate Professor in the Future of Work at the Flinders University Australian Industrial Transformation Institute. Based at the Tonsley Innovation District, Andreas has conducted research on employment and workplace practices – including the labour market experiences of young people, people with disability, and older workers – as well as the effects of technology on employment and workplace health and safety. 

Dr Ruchi Sinha is an Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the University of South Australia Business School. Ruchi is passionate about translating psychological and management science research into actionable insights for leaders, employees and organisations. Her research revolves around understanding team dynamics and effectiveness, as well as negotiation success in the work context. In this Jobs of the Future session, Ruchi will discuss job design and the analysis of future work, and how job requirements may change in the future.

Dr Charlie Hargroves is a Senior Lecturer with the Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation and Innovation Centre (ECIC) at the University of Adelaide Business School. Charlie has been studying the application of Blockchain Technologies since 2017. In the session, he will discuss how Blockchain Technology will affect the jobs of the future, especially when coupled with AI. This new and emerging technology stands to revolutionise the digital world, creating a raft of new functionalities and digitising many of the things that we currently do in our work lives today.

Dr Paul Wang is a Senior Bioinformatician at the South Australian Genomics Centre (SAGC), situated at SAHMRI. SAGC is a core sequencing facility, providing a range of genomics and bioinformatics services. In this session, Paul will discuss the ways in which bioinformatics is transforming both biological research and health/medical applications, and what that might mean for future jobs in the health and medical sectors.
